With California’s very public water shortage, I thought this week’s blog post would be a good time to discuss some ways you could conserve water while you are out on your boat.
1. For those of you with sinks and showers on your boat, turn off all taps when they are not in use. This, along with limiting shower time will save a ton of water.
2. Instead of running your sink water to rinse and clean your dishes, try a small watering can or spray bottle. You will only use what you need with these two methods and, often times, its a much smaller mess.
3. Hand Sanitizer! Depending on whether you cook or wash your hands often or less so, all of that water adds up. Over time, you can save a substantial amount of water by using hand sanitizer instead of water to wash your hands.
4. This last one might not apply to everyone, so use your better judgement here. If you are in salt water with your boat, shower, clean dishes, and wash your boat with salt water(as long as it appears clean) and rinse with fresh water. This will save a lot of water and is totally fine and healthy for you as well.
